What is Sildenafil Citrate

Sildenafil oral tablet is available as both a brand-name and a generic medication. Viagra and Revatio are brand names. It is available in three forms: an oral tablet, an oral suspension (liquid), and an injection that can only be administered by a doctor. The oral tablet sildenafil is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) and is also employed in the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH).

It is unclear, if it is effective for treating sexual dysfunction in women. Onset is typically within 20 minutes and it generally lasts for about 2 hours.

  • Viagra: This drug is used to treat ED. With ED (Erectile Disfunction), you’re unable to get or maintain an erection.
  • Revatio: This drug is used to treat PAH (Pulmonary Arterial hypertension). With PAH, the blood pressure in your lungs is too high. Your heart has to work very hard to pump blood into your lungs.

Dosage for erectile dysfunction (ED)(Only for information purpose)

Generic: Sildenafil

  • Oral tablet form
  • Dosages: 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg

Adult dosage (ages 18–64 years)

  • Typical dose: 50 mg, taken as needed 1 hour before sexual activity. It can be taken anywhere between 30 minutes and 4 hours before sexual activity.
  • The maximum daily dose is 100 mg.

Child dosage (ages 0–17 years)

This medication has not been proven to be safe or effective in children under the age of 18.

Senior dosage (ages 65 years and older)

The kidneys, liver, or heart of an elderly person may not function as well as they once did. As a result, your body may process drugs more slowly. As a result, a greater amount of a drug remains in your body for a longer period of time. This increases your chances of experiencing side effects.
